An interview with Zara Chantelle

I had the opportunity to listen to the music of Zara Chantelle. The Adelaide, South Australia artist is fast becoming "A force to be reckoned with". Her lyrics evoke an emotional response, and her voice has a defined smooth flow.

Although she is just 18 years old, Zara is mature well beyond her years. For as long as she can remember music has been running through her veins. She is able to express deep seeded emotions that have fueled her growth and vulnerability.

Just envision yourself in the relatable feeling of the track "Happiness", released on June 29th. It's a step in the spotlight allowing an organic connection with the listeners while being empowering at the same time. Zara has a raw poetic vibe that pops with emotional depth and truth.

Music Mavericks recently caught up with the uber talented Zara Chantelle and touched on some interesting information.

ðŸŽµ- Who had the greatest impact on you musically and otherwise, and when did you realize it was your path to follow?

I’d say my old music teacher from high school, Mr. Donovan, he really helped me get out of my shell and get over my stage fright which really changed my life, I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. I realized this could be a path I wanted to follow when I was having a conversation with my dad in the car about careers and I said to him, “I wish there was a way to perform and write my own music” and he told me to go for it, and from there I decided that was my future.

🎵- How do you handle the pressure and stay grounded?

A lot of my family and friends help me stay grounded but also reflecting on how lucky I am to be doing what I love as a career. The pressure I face is mainly the pressure I put on myself, although I also definitely get stage fright, I’m learning how to manage all of it!

🎵-What advice would you share with other young artists who want to pursue music?

Start songwriting and performing early, you can only improve! Give everything a go and say yes!!

🎵-What is your dream venue that you would love to perform at?

Definitely Wembley Stadium!

🎵-If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?

Lizzy McAlpine or Olivia Rodrigo, I love their vocal tones and how you can really feel the emotion in their music.

🎵-If your sound was a color, or a season, what would it be and why?

Blue and purple! The songs I write, especially at this stage, are about overcoming hardships and pain. The production in my head when writing these songs reflect those colors!

🎵-What is a lyric you have written that still gives you chills?

“You tore me down till there was nothing left, just skin and bones, there was no intellect”

As raw and harsh as it sounds, those lyrics really cut me deep every time I sing the song!

🎵-How does being an experienced young woman influence your voice-both literally and artistically?

Being a young woman I can empathize with young girls who have gone through hardships and write about it in a catchy pop song. With this also comes responsibility to make sure my words are kind and thoughtful.

🎵-Where would you like to see yourself in five years?

Touring and signed with three albums out!!!
