They are a legendary punk rock band that originated back in 1986. Their album My Brain Hurts is considered a classic. The band's influence is evident in the success of later pop-punk acts. Blink-182 covered their song "The Girl Next Door," and Green Day's bassist Mike Dirnt played on their 1994 album How to Make Enemies and Irritate People. Additionally, bands like The All-American Rejects, New Found Glory, and Fall Out Boy have cited Screeching Weasel as an influence .
