“If I didn’t find music as a kid, I would either be in jail or dead. Music education is incredibly important, not only for creative development, but as a way out for the many kids who have none.”

- Quincy Jones (Record Producer, Jammcard Investor)

School Gig, a job platform that will help connect California public schools and districts with music and arts educators announces its launch today. School Gig is essential now that California voters have passed Proposition 28, which will provide about $1 billion annually for arts and music education. School Gig aims to help schools find over 15,000 arts and music teachers that will be needed to fully implement Prop 28. Elmo Lovano, the CEO of Jammcard, a networking platform for musicians and music professionals, with Austin Beutner, Author of Prop 28, conceived the idea for School Gig.

“California public schools will need to hire as many as 15,000 arts educators to fulfill the promise of Prop 28. That’s more than will be hired in the rest of the country combined over the next year or two. School Gig is an exciting new way to help connect artists with good paying jobs in schools,” said Austin Beutner, Author of Prop 28.

“Art and music led me to become the entrepreneur that I am today. Learning drums at 10 years old and becoming fascinated with it taught me how to communicate with others and how to lead. Drumming gave me a feeling of passion that led to my drive. To me, teaching young students arts and music is one the most important things they could learn, and we’re working hard to connect as many incredible artists to schools and districts, for them to choose who they’d like to educate their students.” - Elmo Lovano, CEO of School Gig and Jammcard.

Inglewood School District is at the forefront of a new movement to bring talent artistic talent into schools, becoming the first California District to use School Gig. Inglewood School District is one of the first to implement Proposition 28. The school district’s innovative approach to education is setting a new standard for other districts across the country. By bringing talented professionals into schools, Inglewood is helping to prepare students for success in the 21st-century workforce and in life.

To celebrate the launch of School Gig, Jammcard hosted a JammJam, last night, October 11 at 1500 or Nothin’s new compound in Inglewood. Special guests included James Fauntlerloy, Omarion, Ari Lennox, Johnny Gill, and Trap Jazz. JammJams are events where some of the top musicians in the world get together and jam in the round, surrounded by an audience. Previous JammJams have featured artists such as Anderson .Paak, Kamasi Washington, Jacob Collier, and Time For Three. JammJams have also celebrated the works of Quincy Jones (a Jammcard investor) and George Clinton, who were both in attendance for their tributes.
