Flogging Molly
Flogging Molly was fired up for the eighth leg of the 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Tour at the Harrah’s Resort Southern California on Friday, March 18th, 2022. Appropriately starting their show with “Drunken Lullabies” after their St. Patrick’s Day celebrations at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California, where the band originally began in 1997, there was no shortage of happy energy for this Celtic punk band led by Irish vocalist Dave King.
Adding to the energy was first opening band “Vandoliers”, an American alternative country music band from Dallas, Texas, and the second opening band was “Russkaja”, a ska punk band from Vienna, Austria that calls its sound “Russian Turbo Polka Metal”.
Flogging Molly was scheduled to play this venue on March 12, 2020, when at 12:00 noon, they received notice that the tour had been cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. King and his wife Bridget Regan, who also plays fiddle in the band, went home to Ireland for four months before returning to their home in Detroit where Dave got back to writing music. His latest release, “These Times Have Got Me Drinking/Tripping Up The Stairs” as part of their new album to be released later this year by Rise records.
There was no shortage of favorites performed by this very popular band where many of the songs were tributes, such as “A Song for Liberty”, dedicated to Ukraine.
