Raj Mahal today releases his dark and frenetic EP, RAW DAWG, along with a new visual for "KAPPA." Listen to the EP HERE and watch the video HERE

Says Raj Mahal about the release of the new project, "Raw Dawg was a self care mechanism that helped get me out of a dark place this year. It made me remember who I am and what I’m about to do and I don’t plan on forgetting that ever again."

Following on from lead single "GLIMPSE," and "GET ME FROM," which garnered attention from HipHopDXListen MagAcclaim, Elevator, and more, the RAW DAWG EP showcases the breadth of Raj’s experimental style. Watch the music video for 'KAPPA' below.

Inspired early on by the unrelenting and aggressive energy of Death Grips, the hard-hitting tracks on the EP are designed to hit the most primal receptors of the brain and body. Melding the experimental electronic stylings of Danny Brown and A$AP Ferg with the hardened, menacing lyrical prowess of Jay Electronica and Chief Keef, Raj's music is powered by his deep, guttural rumble of a voice and calls to mind the chilly, minimalist mood of a Kenny Beats track.

For the Boston born rapper, re-locating to Australia was a decision made to find himself both emotionally and musically. At one time homeless, Raj grew up quickly with little space for vulnerability or weakness. He started rapping as a teenager, influenced by his uncles who were key players in Boston's local hip hop scene. An unsuspecting introduction to a producer several oceans away landed him in Sydney.

More than anything, this release is stark insight into the mental state that birthed it and Raj's first major release since 2017’s, Neva Safe, following a string of standalone singles that has seen his stock skyrocket in his adopted country’s hip hop scene. In between then and now, Mahal has collaborated with the likes of Triple One, Nerve, Dro Carey, Yibby, and more, performed as one quarter of Savour the Rations (his group with Gibrillah and Domba),  and opened for Wiley, YG and Smokepurpp, among others on their Australian tours. With the release of RAW DAWGRaj Mahal promises zero restraint.
