During the annual Legacy Week (a line-up of activities including a blood drive, family activities, wreath memorial ceremony, exhibits etc.)Memorial Day weekend, the USS Midway Museum hosts the Freedom Concert. Year after year stellar talent performs on the exquisite flight deck amid stunning downtown and magnificent sunset views. The iconic aircraft carrier the USS Midway has called San Diego it's home since 1992.

Proceeds from the concert are shared among three charities. Prior to the concert STEP (Support The Enlisted Project), Zero8Hundred and the San Diego Harbor Police are awarded a gift check.

This years artist was rock musician Chris Daughtry. His success and following have continuously grown since his 2006 fourth-place finish on American Idol. Daughtry's debut album was a major success and went platinum back in 2008. The Grammy Award nominee delivered with passion, deep emotion and as is customary at any one of his concerts, the now popular phrase "ALL IN". You did not have to be a die-hard fan to love this evening of great music and beauty. In the coming years we hope to see and hear Daughtry back again rocking on the Midway!!!

One of San Diego's crown jewels, The USS Midway Museum Houses a massage collection of aircrafts.

A large turnout of fans happily awaited the  start of the Concert on the beautiful flight deck.

Daughtry first came into prominence as the fourth-place finisher of American Idol's 2006 season.

Born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, raised in Virginia Daughtry began his musicial journey at 16 singing and taking guitar lesson. He performed in many rock bands and also did some acting at stage productions while in High School.
