At last, the fifth solo album 'Hanging Out In Heaven' by Marty Willson-Piper (The Church, All About Eve) will be released on vinyl for the first time ever. An exclusive release for Record Store Day 2019, this record will be issued on blue-tinged vinyl as a heavy-weight gatefold double LP via Schoolkids Records-The Label and includes two bonus tracks 'Queen In Her Jeans' and 'Dressed Up As You'.

Marty Willson-Piper's most recent release is 'The Afterlife', an album released by Noctorum in mid-February on CD and vinyl. This successful crowdfunded effort has resulted in the album charting in four separate Billboard charts in the first week after the album's release. "The world's a better place with 6 String Drag in it" - Steve Earle

"So thrilled to have 6 String Drag back again. They're as great as ever. Like reconnecting with a long lost friend" — Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers)

"A raw, raucous take on alt-Americana, a sound hard to put your finger on but one that wraps comfortably around your ears while it rocks your ass off" — No Depression

“A pair of deeply satisfying albums – including Top of the World, released on Schoolkids Records – that sound as though the band never went anywhere” — Rolling Stone Country

In the mid to late ‘90s, Kenny Roby and 6 String Drag stood out as pioneers of the nascent alt-country movement. After a leaving a mark on this, as well as the Americana / No Depression scene, the Carolinas quartet essentially broke up.

The band's second record 'High Hat' was produced by Steve Earle and Ray Kennedy and was released in 1997 on Earle's Warner Brothers imprint label E-Squared Record. This album remains an undisputed classic of its era.

In January 2018, the band reissued a 20th anniversary reissue of 'High Hat' on CD, vinyl and digitally, following up with their fourth full-length studio record 'Top of The World' in March 2018.
Both releases are available through Schoolkids Records
     .
'The Jag Sessions' album is a collection of unreleased rarities and record quality demos recorded by Byron McCay at Jag Studios in Raleigh, NC between 1996 and 1998. Previously, these recordings have only been circulated among fans and digitally as low flying CD releases for sale at shows.

JOHN THE MARTYR SET TO RELEASE SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM
    FOR RECORD STORE DAY.

Soul/R&B phenom, John The Martyr are set to release their  debut on Record Store Day. This initial drop will be a vinyl-only release through Schoolkids Records-The Label with other formats to be released in June on +1 Records.

Since their inception in 2017, John The Martyr has inspired a good amount of solid media coverage. Notable outlets  like Brooklyn Paper, NY Post, AM NY, Fox NY, have touted their live shows and felt inclined to trumpet their story-- a saga that involves JTM principle songwriter/guitarist Kyle Ridley, actually “discovering” Bill Hudson singing on a Manhattan subway. Ridley had moved to NYC in search of a singer for some new songs he had written. Ridley found himself enchanted by Hudson, a 72 year old  R&B and doo-wop vocalist singing on the uptown NYC subways. They bonded instantly and continued to work together on creating some new tunes. The rest is new history.

Schoolkids Records-The Label has announced the  'Thoughts and Prayers'  single from David J.
This will be issued on limited edition vinyl in a run of only 500 copies.
This is the first great protest song of the year, exclusively for RSD 2019.

David J Haskins, an achieved solo artist in his own right, is also co-founder of both Bauhaus and Love and Rockets and the man responsible for the lyrics of the Bauhaus classic 'Bela Lugosi's Dead'.

"Thoughts and Prayers is a scathing rebuke of the United States for its inability to stop the senseless mass school shootings that are killing our nation's children," says David J, who bemoans the futility of "sending thoughts and prayers" to solve this tragic issue..

This 7" single comes packaged in a sleeve with a striking picture of a rifle with a bloody red circle around it and a line drawn through it.  The complete lyrics of 'Thoughts and Prayers' are printed on the back so the nation does not miss a word of this powerful call to action.

The B-Side is a cover of Emily Jane White 'Hole in the Middle'. While originally written in response to the Bush administration, this powerful political song is just as relevant in today's political environment.
