Only 9 days to go and the excitement keeps building. Plan on spending one, two, or better yet all three days at Kaaboo Del Mar.

This amazing multi music, art, cuisine event takes place at the fairgrounds in the city of the Del Mar. This seaside paradise boasts beautiful weather and one of the most desirable climates in the country.

Kaaboo is also a great opportunity to participate in a wonderful charity event. For every pass sold one dollar is donated to a local San Diego charity like Voices for Children, Armed Services YMCA San Diego, The Sing Me A Story, McKenna Claire Foundation, Feeding America San Diego etc A full list is posted on the Kaaboo site.

New this year is the Charity Poker Tournament hosted by Maria Ho. Maria is one of the top ranked female poker players in the world.

She is also a TV co-host of the WPT show, "The Final Table." The Tournament takes place on September 16th and 17th.

Another significant feature is Kaaboo Palate. It boasts a culinary line-up featuring an  extraordinary group of Chefs including Top Chef All Stars winner Richard Blais of Juniper & Ivy, and Top Chef finalist  Brian Malarkey who recently opened his newest restaurant  Herb & Wood. You will find a wonderful mix of rustic upscale cuisine. Here again, the festival provides an outstanding variety from the make-your-own, seafood, to food demonstrations, and for the sweet tooth ice cream, candy bars etc. Not to be forgotten are the sampling of Tequila, vodka, and local craft beers.

Please check out the website as there is a full listing of the featured mural & sculpture artists, jewelry makers, photographers, contemporary painters, watercolor artists, mixed- media, wood inlay, and resin painters, There will be 80 artists, too many to mention.

Enough said. Check the website and purchase your tickets. It's only a few weeks away. The Hang Ten option is sold out, but Hang Five and The Hang Loose are still available.

You don't want to miss this!!!  Hope to see you there.

Kaaboo 2016
Steve Anderson

The Struts were the "high energy" band of the day as they rocked the Sunset Cliffs Stage with their new hits "Could Have Been Me" and "Kiss This" however, Lenny K got the crowd rocking when he played the throbbing "American Woman" over the incredible sound system that KAABOO had set up. On a quieter note, The Goo Goo Dolls and Third Eye Blind played to capacity crowds too...So there was something for everyone; Rock, Emo, Rap and Psychedelia...Speaking of Psychedelia.

The Verigolds, a local San Diego band who won their contest to play at KAABOO, did not disappoint. Supported by a large local crowd and the dancing of The Glitter VIbe Tribe, the Verigolds took the crowd to a higher level with songs from the recently released album "For Margaret". Aerosmith played to a packed crowd at the end of the day and it was awesome to hear 25,000 people singing the chorus of "Dream On" as the band concluded its set. All in all, it was a bright sunny  Southern California day with no major glitches to report from my end.
