Mudcrutch at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay June 30, 2016

Humprey's Concerts By The Bay  proved to be a superb place for Mudcrutch  to close out their  2016 tour.  The show was a standing room only event that enhanced the up close and personal experience with the musicians.

Mudcrutch was Tom Petty's band in the early and mid 1970's before forming the Heartbreakers.  After leaving Gainsville Florida, the Southern Rock band made their way to Los Angeles where the band was broken up at the request of their record company.

In 2007 Heartbreakers Tom Petty, Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell joined original Mudcrutch members Tom Leadon and Randall Marsh and reformed Mudcrutch.  In 2008 the band recorded the 14 track album "Mudcrutch".   A second full-length album "Mudcrutch 2" was released in May 2016 as the band embarked on a new tour.

The San Diego audience inside the venue, as well as the boat crowd outside on the bay, were treated to a laid-back effortless performance.  Petty performed smiling with arms wide open to the audience.  The iconic frontman Hall of Famer played  bass as he did back in the Mudcrutch days and sang most of the vocals.  Tom Petty and the band were tight, sharp, and you could tell they loved jamming the night away. Throughout the concert  each member of the band stepped up to do a solo.  They were all nothing short of fantastic.
