Colbie Caillat
San Diego County Fair June 13, 2015
The Malibu, California resident Colbie Caillat was glowing at her recent concert stop at the San Diego County Fair on Saturday June 13th. No doubt she is at a high point both in her musical career as well as personal life. Last month Colbie and her boyfriend singer/songwriter/ collaborator Justin Young were engaged. This was the start of her summer tour Girls Night Out, Boys Can Come Too include dates with Christina Perri and Rachel Platten.
Beside being a prolific songwriter and a multi-talented instrumentalist, she has a captivating voice. Her songs touch various life experiences from the cheerful love ballard "Bubbly" from her 2007 Coco Debut Album, Breakthrough 2009, All of You 2011, Christmas in the Sand and the epic Ep lead single "Try" from her fifth studio album Gypsy Heart 2014. In Miss Caillat's own words " Try is this song I've had in my head my entire life about personal imperfections, self-confidence issues." "Try" was awarded the Video of the Year at the 2015 She Rocks Award Show at the Namm Convention this past January. It has an empowering message to all women and young ladies alike that whether you believe you are beautiful or not, you have inner beauty.
It was an entertaining show with a mix of old and new songs.
The audience was largely female, sprinkled with some male, young and old, varied ages. They were singing along throughtout the show.
There is a level of sincerity in her voice and presence that is engaging and appealing. The two-time Grammy Award winner wooed the crowd. Any preconceived expectations the audience might have had was met with an impressive perfomance.
* A portion of the proceeds from the "Girls Night Out, Boys can come too Tour" Tickets and VIP packages will go to benefit "Givewell" and "Music Cares"
