ZZ Ward
ZZ Ward's sold-out concert at the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla was outstanding! She has a unique vibe, a great stage presence, and a sultry soulful voice. Her warm connection with the crowd was evident from the moment she stepped onto the stage.
She plays a mean guitar, throw in some keyboard, and follow with a harmonica. ZZ lovingly spoke about her Dad, who just happened to be in the audience. He was in a blues band himself and taught her to sing. Thank you, Dad!
Ward was born in Pennsylvania but spent her childhood in Roseburg, Oregon. It was during her preteen years she joined her father's band. Included in her set were the songs "Charlie Ain't Home" her tribute to the late blues singer Etta James tune "Waiting for Charlie to Come Home" the chillingly beautiful "Last Love Song" and the awesome pulsing beat of "Put The Gun Down" a signature song for sure. Her encore tune was the riveting "Blue Eyes Blind"

The band was equally fantastic, always in the moment.
If you want to hear someone who is even better live, don't miss this legend in the making.
